You will be hard pressed to find even a non poker playing person that hasn’t heard of the online poker giant Party Poker. So what’s all the fuss about? What exactly will one find when going in search of a table at the worlds biggest independent internet poker room?

Party Poker Software

Party Poker offers poker players some pretty great software, aside from the cheesy graphics that really could use a little ingenuity. As of 2005 Party Poker has been independent of other poker rooms, and not operating within a network. Their software was upgraded during 2003, again during the first half of 2004, the latter part of 2005, and already again in early 2006.

The software is very playable; the increased bandwidth recently achieved by adding of new servers has certainly made the site more reliable, which is definitely a must with more than 100,000 poker players at the tables at any given time.

Multi-tabling is offered on up to 4 tables at one time. The lobby does not offer flops viewed per hour percentages, or hands played per hour, so you will have to do your own homework by checking out the games yourself for a bit if you’re looking for a nice loose table with a lot of action. On the good side of that coin, once you find the perfect table, with all the action you’re looking for, it won’t be boldly displayed for all of the other sharks to line up for.

Party Poker does offer the advantage of player notes, whereas you have the ability to keep specific notes on each player that you play. Instant hand histories are also on offer.

One of our favorite features offered at party poker is the ability to make deals; much like you would everyday in a land based casino. If you want to split the pot heads up in a big tourney, that is now an option, an option that you won’t find just anywhere online.

In addition to making deals at the poker table, another fun little feature was introduced with the Party Poker Software update in 2005, this feature allows side bets. This is a great and fun feature that not only will you not find at many online casino’s, many land based casino’s are not able to offer the feature do to local laws.

Ring Tables at Party Poker

Party Poker offers all of the big name games found in internet Poker such as; No Limit Texas Holdem, Fixed Limit Holdem, and Pot Limit Holdem, Omaha 7-Card-Stud, and 7 Card Stud Hi. Limit Holdem can be played for as low as $.50-$1.00 and as much as a $200 big blind. No Limit and Pot Limit versions can be played for as little as a dime in the small blind.

The Traffic

Party Poker's traffic is phenomenal; this is not to go unnoticed at their ring tables. Have you ever heard the Party Poker Jingle? Are you singing it now? Then I guess we all know that there will be no troubles finding a table to sit at with the action you’re looking for at Party Poker.

In fact, Party Pokers super aggressive marketing has caused their traffic to break new amazing records each month. Currently, a few over 16,000 players can be found playing at the ring tables during peak hours.

There was however a recent drop in traffic at Party, they lost about 20% when they recently became a sole independent and left the other 4 skin sites in the network.

Tournaments at Party Poker

You won’t find higher tournament traffic anywhere else in the world; in fact, Party hosts about 80,000 real money tournament players during their busiest hours.

Tournaments are offered in No Limit and Limit Texas Holdem styles, 7 Card Stud, Omaha, and more to come I’m sure. Party Poker is well known for their million, and five million dollar freeroll tournaments.

Sit down to a Sit 'n' Go tournament for as little as five bucks, or have a play for a few more dollars a $200 SnG.

The Rake

Party Poker’s Rake is probably one of their weakest points from the players stand point. The higher steak games don’t look to bad; in fact they look pretty low. But the guys at the low limit tables are getting picked on just a bit here.

The rake at Party can be as high as 10% in the $1/$2 games. Tournament rakes can be pretty steep too, as high as 20% as well.
